The Advent (December) season always brings about a full schedule, and life at Emmanuel is no different. Here is what we have coming up
ADVENT SMALL GROUP
(Wednesdays @ 6:30)
Join Pastor Matthew for a weekly small group discussing the book, The Advent Conspiracy. This book invites us to ponder how we as Christians can hold true to the real meaning of Christmas in a world of gift-giving and holiday obligations. Might we be led to worship full, spend less, give more, and love all? The group meets Wednesdays at 6:30 in the fellowship hall, beginning on November 28. All are welcome.
(12/8 @ 9:30)
Come out and bring your little ones to a breakfast celebration of Christmas. There will be games, crafts, food, and the telling of the Christmas story. Please contact the church office to RSVP. Saturday, December 8 @ 9:30 in the fellowship hall.
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN COOKIE SALE
(12/16 @ 11:00)
Following the 10:00 service, our fellowship hall tables will be lined with various homemade cookies and baked goods. For $12, you can fill an empty coffee can with all the cookies your heart desires. Have a favorite cookie recipe? Make a batch or two and bring to share! All proceeds benefit local church missions.
(12/16 @ 5:30)
The Christmas season is one that we say is filled with joy, but that’s not the case for all. For some, the season is one of stress, anxiety, exhaustion, and grief. This service of hope and peace is to create a space where those feelings are okay – where it is okay to not put on a happy face that isn’t true. If you feel the season is just a bit (or a lot) overwhelming, join us for this quiet, contemplative service. Sunday, December 16 @ 5:30 in the sanctuary.
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES
(12/24 @ 7:00 pm & 11:00 pm)
Come and worship with us at Emmanuel on Christmas Eve to celebrate the birth of Christ. We offer two services on Christmas Eve. Our 7:00 service includes a special children’s message, and the choir will be singing. Our 11:00 service is a candlelit service where we will also celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
